Established in 1995, the ABC International School is a rapidly expanding multi-national, non-denominational day school for both expatriate and Vietnamese students (approximate student role - 700). The school comprises students of twenty-six different nationalities, providing a rich cultural diversity of which it is proud. The predominant nationalities represented are Vietnamese (including ‘Viet Kieu’- overseas Vietnamese who have returned to the country), Taiwanese and Korean. Approximately 95% of students are Asian.
The staff comprises 65 full time teaching staff. The highly experienced, fully qualified class teachers are predominantly from the United Kingdom and Ireland, (78%) with the remainder from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the Philippines and USA. The French Teacher is from France and Chinese Language Teachers are from China. There are 25 dual language Vietnamese teaching assistants, plus cleaning staff, kitchen staff, and security guards.
Providing education for 2-18 year olds, the school offers curriculum instruction in all UK curriculum areas.
Our extensive EAL programme is offered from Year 1 onwards. Generally children are admitted to the school following an interview to determine not only English language ability, but also ability in other curriculum areas. Exceptions may be made to limit numbers in certain year groups. For 2 terms they receive free EAL teaching but if further EAL is needed the cost is US$750 per term thereafter.
As a rule, we look at what a child can do, rather than what he/she cannot do and promise to improve the education of every child admitted. Specialist EAL classes are now in place to facilitate swift progress in English and to allow non-English speaking students to access all subjects within the curriculum. Every student is expected to pursue personal high standards.

Our Mission
Providing education for approximately 700
students aged from 2-17 year olds (Playgroup to Year 12), the school
offers curriculum instruction in the following subjects: English Language
and Literature, Numeracy, Science, Computer studies, Geography, History,
Modern Foreign Languages (French & Chinese), Art and Design Technology,
PE, and Swimming. The school follows the UK National Curriculum Guidelines
for most subject areas, including the National Literacy and Numeracy
Strategies. Adaptations are made in certain subjects to reflect the
cultural mix of the school.
The school's extensive English as an Additional
Language programme (EAL) is offered from Year 1 through to Year 12 (our
highest year group at present). Specialist EAL support exists to facilitate
swift progress in English and allow EAL students to access all subjects
within the curriculum. Every child is expected to pursue personal high
standards.
All textbooks are supplied and the school
is fully resourced from the UK annually. Uniforms are worn by all students.
All classrooms are air-conditioned, bright and spacious and we have
facilities for out-door play. An extensive extra-curricular programme
exists throughout the school comprising a wide range of sports and after
school clubs.
Field trips take place regularly for all
year groups, including week-long excursions to a variety of destinations
throughout Vietnam for KS2/3/4 students. The school year runs from late
August to end of June, split into 5 terms (please see calendar). Daily hours are 08:30-15:00.
Entry to the school is organised via a detailed
interview between the Headteacher and prospective students at
all Key Stages. Students from age 7+ will also undertake a Reading/Comprehension Test, Writing and Mathematics Test. Application forms and further information is available
on request from the District 3 campus and Saigon South campus. See the Admissions section on
this website for more details.
