Our
General Philosophy:
As
a starting point, we take what a child can do, rather than what he or
she cannot do. A
childs learning should be centred on the notion of respect: respect
for the self and for others. This central theme leads naturally to care
of belongings, care for the environment, cultural and racial tolerance,
non-sexist attitudes, responsibility and self-discipline, honesty and
the striving for excellence. Our Missions Statement
on the Home Page expands on this.
Much
of the following information on academic content is taken from the National
Curriculum website at www.nc.uk.net,

Foundation Stage : Playgroup (aged 2 - 3), Nursery (aged 3 - 4) and Reception (aged 4 - 5)
Children develop in different
ways and at differing rates. All aspects of development (emotional,
intellectual, moral, physical, spiritual and social) are equally important.
Children learn most effectively
by doing, rather than being told or even being shown. Playing and talking are the most important ways in which young children
learn.
Children who are confident
about themselves and their surroundings have a head start to learning.
All children have abilities,
which should be identified and promoted.
